Scratched Saint

Hey folks!

Sorry for no posts past couple of days. been busy, and been a tad ill too. Not a good combination i can tell you! Anyway, i’m back and posts should be back to normal. Hopefully once a day. Or every other day.

So onto the post. This wasn’t how i wanted this image to turn out. Oh no. I wanted it to be bright, eye catching, very minimal and oh so abstract. But i just couldn’t get the image just how i wanted it. Must have been my perfectionism at work. And at play. See? It can be both a pleasure AND a pain in the arse to be a perfectionist. Altho lately i am finding that i don’t mind what i come up with. I’m learning to be pleased and excited by what i come up with. It’s not easy being an artist. This must be what it feels like for a writer. Not quite knowing just to put down in words, that feeling inside you have.

I used an action, some brushes and parts of a texture. Oh and i fiddled around with the adjustments too. As you do when making art. I still say, there is no right or wrong way to make art. It comes from within.

By the way, want to see what things i use in my art? Well, go check out my Deviant Art favourites page. Most of the stuff on there, are in the images you see on this site.

Messed Up

“Messed Up”

Had some fun with this one. I kinda knew what i wanted, and i knew i had the right kinda of image to use. And so with some extra brushes, i made this image. I know it’s a style i’ve used before but i love how much blank space you can leave. Negative space! That’s it. Ha! Almost forgot what the word was. I think negative space can be quite hard to master. I mean, you have to decide how much space you want to leave, and how you want to fill the space you want the image in. Less is more – ain’t that the saying. Anyways, hope you guys like it.

Messed Up

This image came about after many many trys of doing some kind of art. I had wanted to do something but nothing was being completed. At least not in my head. And for me, that’s not a good thing. I’ve been skimming the internet looking at a huge amount of tutorials and helpful hints and tips, so i had the “urge” to get creative.

So i started by looking around for some great photos to use. And there are some great websites that offer free stock photos that you can use. And of course you can use the old faithful – Google.  So take some time and look around for the right images to use. And yes, occasionally you might have to pay for them. But the better the photo you use,the better the image you will make.

I then went onto the Deviant Art website, which is like a design toy shop. I can spend hours in there. Sometimes i leave with nothing. but it’s the looking and seeing the new things that are on offer.  I got some brushes and textures that i thought i could use. I think i may have even deviated and went and bought an action too! Oh how the minds wonders. Wanna see what i use? Check out my deviant art favourites folder.

After much tooing and froing, i came up with this image. I love how even with brushes you can get the look and “feel” of texture in an image. I hope you enjoy it as much as i had making it.

Decades Old

I love playing around with brushes and trying out new ways of doing things in photoshop. Using the art brush is one of them. I never knew the effects you can get by using that sucker! It’s become my new favourite toy. lol

The only thing i do have with it, is finding the right image to work with! ALWAYS the way with me. All about the image. And getting it just right. Damn my perfectionism!

Anyways, enjoy the image. 🙂

Candy Floss

Not so long ago i saw this effect in a tutorial called pixel sorting, looked alot like the glitch effect and i SO wanted to have a go. Yeah. Like that went smoothly! lol Anyway, i found this great little psd, which helped ALOT. And i made this. After using about 5 different photos to get the right effect/look. Well, in my eyes at least! I like the result. Might do it again sometime.

In the meantime, i’ve made this image available to buy in my shop. So you can buy it as a print and also as a t shirt!
